5 Ways To Promote Veganism Online (And Get Paid!)

Today, Luis Souza of Raw Vegan Power has an exciting topic about promoting health and earning at the same time. I think this is something worth doing because the advocacy is more sincere and more genuine to help people to be  more healthy.  Check out Luis’ message below.

Promote Raw Vegan Diet

Recently Durianrider and John Kohler published a video, made during the Woodstock Fruit Festival, in which they share 6 tips to promote the Raw Vegan Diet on YouTube and Make Money:

1. Be consistent

2. Don’t take anything personally

3. Don’t Critique yourself too much

4. Keep it real

5. Practice and look to the camera!

6. Work on your titles and still images for videos

As you can see these tips are pretty simple and basic, they don’t really touch many aspects of this business called YouTube videopreneurship, that became a profession for thousands of people lately.

durianrider, john kohler

Basically you simply need to make a video and upload it on YouTube and the more times you make this the more views you may get. And the more views you get the more money you can make, by monetizing your videos with ads from advertisers, companies that pay YouTube to promote their products with videos, links etc. over the raw vegan videos that you love to watch.

For instance, yesterday I watched one Freelee’s video after having to watch 5 seconds of a NESPRESSO commercial advertisement. Although Freelee doesn’t endorse the use of coffee in her low fat raw vegan diet, she is indirectly helping to promote coffee making machines. Which means that Nestlé is paying part of Freelee’s YouTube income.

So Durianrider, John Kohler, Freelee, Liferegenerator, Markus Rothkranz, Dara Dubinet, Matt Monarch, Angela Stokes, Megan Elizabeth, Swayze Foster, Matthew Armstrong, Ka Sundance and hundreds of other big and small raw vegan leaders promote the raw vegan diet and lifestyle and receive checks coming from YouTube, with more than 50% of the CPM (cost per mille, or 1 thousand views), which can go from $0.15 to $1.25 per view or much more, depending on your niche, location, popularity of your channel, etc.

My personal background is in internet marketing, not in nutrition, so when I see this model of online business that Durianrider and John Kohler are using and promoting I see that it could be much better and more profitable, without having to use unethical practices as we see some of those leaders doing (like Matt Monarch and David Wolfe who promote deer antler velvet and placenta colostrum and Liferegenerator selling whey powder).

The truth is that all of these raw vegan leaders became who they are today exactly because of the internet, Google, YouTube, Facebook, etc. They grew with the growth of the Internet. It’s thanks to these huge systems that we all were able to find them and follow them. And they know it!

Basically, the raw vegan movement wouldn’t be growing so strongly if we still lived in times without the internet and each raw vegan leader that you see, with time, became a very skilled online entrepreneur. And the more professional you are as an online entrepreneur the better you can spread your message and your passion for raw vegan food, ukulele playing, soccer or anything else that you choose.

My passion is well known by you, I love to spread the raw vegan message and that’s the reason I am here writing articles and blogging about the Raw Vegan Power. And I clearly see a huge interest from our growing passionate audience about how to promote the raw vegan message on the internet, with videos, blogging and, if possible, get paid.

The way I see it, the last part of the puzzle is really important, because it doesn’t matter how passionate you may be for the raw vegan diet, if you don’t get paid, sooner or later you are going to stop or at least slow down your efforts to promote the raw vegan message.

Imagine what Durianrider and Freelee, this couple that we love from watching their daily videos, would be doing if they didn’t receive those monthly checks coming from YouTube! Probably, unfortunately for all of us, they would be doing something else, maybe getting a personal trainer job in a Sport Center in some small city in Australia or something like that.

Then, I guess you agree with me that in order to be able to promote the raw vegan message consistently, as Durianrider and John Kohler suggest, you need to get paid.

SO, although I agree with their 6 basic tips,  based on my more than 10 years of internet marketing experience, I want to share with you:

5 Ways To Promote Veganism Online (And Get Paid!)

As John Kohler mentions in his video, with your work you want to build streams of income that can become a main or secondary retirement plan for you. That’s a very good financial advice no matter what your age is!

So when you choose an online business to build, you would rather think about how much you are going to earn not only one time but on a consistently basis, this means that you would like to be paid monthly, for as long as possible.

Just as Dan The Man Liferegenerator tried to do with his REGENERATION NATION online club, for instance, that I just found out that was closed some months ago. I don’t know the reasons this particular raw club was closed, but there are many others that you can find online too. Swayze Foster used to have one too.

Anyway, I’m listing the following options in an ascending order to let you know what I think is the best way to create multiple streams of income arriving at your door every month while you are sharing the raw vegan message and your passion with the world and enjoying a lifestyle that allows higher levels of freedom and financial freedom as well!

5. YouTube videos

This would be the most basic way to promote the raw vegan diet online and get paid. You simply need to start shooting videos of yourself or of anything that you like and uploading them on YouTube on a consistently basis.

If you do it correctly, using the right keywords and using some internet marketing tricks that you can learn, you will be building an audience and creating an authority channel, with lots of subscribers and monetized views that you can make to have YouTube send those checks to your house.

Although you are making videos specifically about the raw vegan diet and lifestyle, be aware that you don’t really have control over the advertisements that you will be helping to be spread. I guess it would be fun to see a Durianrider’s video with some non-vegan ad being shown to you before you watch one of his very critical videos! :)

And you would need thousands of views in each of your videos to really start making a reasonable amount of money to get you far away from your job (or J.O.B. – just over broke…).

Recently I interviewed Matthew Armstrong and, although he has tens of thousands of views in many of his videos, he started doing something else to really get a good reward for all the effort, wisdom and knowledge that he shares spreading the raw vegan message with videos on a consistently basis for many years…

Ok, let’s go ahead, you can still make and share your videos but earn a little more if you do the following…

4. Promoting Affiliate products – e-junkie, clickbank, etc…

Below each of your videos, on the description of each one of them, you can start sharing links of products that you endorse and trust. You just go to E-junkie.com, Clickbank.com, CommissionJunction.com and so many other affiliate program sites and share one or more products that you want to promote.

By the way you can promote my book RAW NOW! The Best Way To Clear Your Mind And Be Happy and earn 50% commission that I pay monthly as I explained here.

But you could also promote Markus Rothkranz’s products, Megan Elizabeth’s books, and even books and e-books sold through Amazon.com, that pays 4-7%, by the way.

In reality it’s pretty easy to promote affiliate products, you don’t even need to have a website, you just need to share the link with other people and when they buy the product, the affiliate program owner will pay you a commission that can be up to 75% on Clickbank for instance.

There is a site called RawForBeauty.com that does only this all the time. The owners of this site must make a huge amount of money monthly, because they have 981,000 fans on Facebook and their business is simply sharing posts on Facebook with a link to their blog. In the blog you will find no text, just pictures with links to products on Clickbank. Check it out starting from their fanpage.

Ok, this is cool, but there really is no recursive payments in most of Clickbank products, and you would need 100,000′s of fans to really have a good income. And after that you would probably hire someone to be sharing those posts on your fanpage on a daily and consistent basis, many times a day…

It’s cool, but not so glamorous and you would need to invest tens of thousands of dollars to get all those likes, I can assure you!

So let’s see something else, that most people already do… that you can add up in your online business plan.

3. Blogging with banners to Google Ads, Affiliate Programs, etc.

That’s the way most people use to promote whatever they are passionate about on the internet, actually you could make videos and blog too. It’s cool when people find out that you make videos and also have a blog in which you share written stuff too.

That’s the reason you see that all those online raw vegan leaders that I mentioned before have sites and blogs besides their YouTube channels.

In a few words, you can start spreading the raw vegan message only with videos, but sooner or later you will need a blog to send people to know more about you. And in your blog you can have banners that will promote other people’s stuff, like the ones you see all over the internet with Google Ads, for instance.

With Google Ads you can earn a little money, but I need to tell you that it won’t be so much. Indeed it will be just a few bucks a month, unless you get to a point in which you have 10′s of thousands of visits a day, so you need to really be patient and invest some years and a considerable amount of money to get there.

In your banners you can also promote those affiliate products already mentioned, but they would be one time sales in general and you wouldn’t be earning so much money anyway, because you would simply be sending your hard acquired visitor to somebody else, who would them be able to get the most lifetime value of that customer.

One affiliate banner that I’m sure you already saw many times in raw vegan blogs is the one of the Vitamix blender. Amazon pays 4% to 7% (depending on your affiliate level…) of around $400 that would be the medium price for a Vitamix, so you can imagine that if you have a good traffic coming to your blog, you can get good checks coming from Amazon to your home too. Cool! I like that! And to be honest I receive Amazon money directly in my bank account too! Love it! :)

Anyway, you can see that all these options are mixable and can work together in your online business plan, that could be further improved when you…

2. Create your own info products and sell them

That’s the best way to make money online, in which you would have everything, YouTube channel, blog, products ready and your work would be to build a mailing list to promote and sell your own info products, e-books, dvds, cds, books, etc.

All your actions would be directed towards building a huge list of emails from people who know and allowed you to send them messages. In these messages you share a lot of quality content and some pitches to stimulate people to buy your products.

You just need to invest some months to create your own products and some others to promote them and grow your list.

During all this time you can be blogging, uploading videos on YouTube and doing all the good stuff that an online entrepreneur does on a consistently basis.

I like to do that, actually this is exactly what I’m doing since I started RawVeganPower.com. During all this year I made videos, blog posts, interviewed almost 100 raw vegan leaders and created two products too.

The end result of all this work is that now RawVeganPower.com is receiving more than 1,000 visits a day and our list has more than 3,400 subscribers so far. With a similar number of fans on facebook as well.

Everything is cool, but it takes time and hard work. And you still need to be very creative to be able to create your own products and services, preferably with some recurring payments in order to really build that secondary retirement plan that John Kohler mentions.

This brings me to what I think can be the best and easiest way to promote raw vegan diet online and get paid.

1. Raw Vegan Power Network

Until now, I’ve seen and tested many options to make a living online and I guess that what I’m calling the Raw Vegan Power Network is really the best one, specially if you are an internet marketing beginner, because there will be a lot to learn!

You can’t just pretend that all those activities, making videos on YouTube, blogging, sharing your stuff all over (Facebook, etc.), creating and promoting products, and many other interesting things related to internet marketing, are so easy that you already know everything from the start.

So you need to learn internet marketing, something that you get from the start when you join Raw Vegan Power Network.

But you don’t get only the training, you also get a coach (in your case it would be “me”!) that will guide you during your first steps and a viral blogging system that you will use to spread the raw vegan message.

I am a blogger for many years now and I can assure you that there are costs involved when you start blogging, even if you want to do it for free. But you don’t get any specific training and coaching attached to the usual blogging platform offers.

I really love the concept of Raw Vegan Power Network because it’s the whole package that you need to start, spread your raw vegan message and earn from $100′s a month up to $1000′s a month or even more, according to your efforts and results.

In your personal viral blogging system you will be attracting people to your videos and posts and when they visit your blog they see banners that, when clicked, lead to landing pages that expose them to awesome internet marketing and blogging products that everyone needs.

When people buy those products from your viral blogging system, you get 100% commissions and some of them are recurrent, which means that you are building that famous passive income that John Kohler mentioned as a retirement plan.

I’m so excited about this that I intend to build a team of raw vegan bloggers, the Raw Vegan Power Network Team, in which each member will be able to promote the raw vegan message and build a good residual income at the same time.

Click here to get access to a video and some messages from me that explain how everything works.

My mission is to reach 1,000,000 people with the raw vegan power message of health and happiness and I’m sure that with your help it will be much easier to accomplish it.

That’s the reason I’m willing to help you grow your personal raw vegan online business and become a raw vegan leader too!

Law of Attraction: People I want to Meet in Person

The law of attraction is a universal truth!

It is something followed by great people  and it helped them to achieve success. I’ve been watching YouTube these past days and nights and I am trying to learn how to attract things I desire most. The power of visualization, the power of thoughts and feelings can lead you to freedom and achieve tangible success. Well, how we define success is subjective. For some people it’s about financial wealth and for some is freedom from misery, worries and all that.

To share with you some of the things I learned is that you should  keep a notebook and a pen and list down all the things you want to get in this life. Make it specific, time bounded and doable! Well the law of attraction is so simple and I want to do it online. This time there are three people that I really want to meet in person! Haha! Yes I want to  interview Oprah Winfrey, Ellen Degeneres and J.K Rowling! Well, I know its so big and so hilarious! Wow! When will I meet them, let’s try to schedule it next year, on December  15, 2014. I am not a very talented person, I don’t have special skills that can hook the interest of these three most influential women in the world. But I want to meet them, that’s all!

Law of Attraction: People I want to Meet in Person

1. Oprah Winfrey

OprahWinfrey_071144 Oh well, who doesn’t want to meet with Oprah?!  I want to meet with her and tell her that I am testing the Law of Attraction and see if it will work.

2. Ellen DeGeneres

ellen2 I want to meet with Ellen too. Because she is the only Ellen in the world who is an inspiration to women in the whole world.

Also, I will tell her that I am just testing the Law of Attraction and see  if it will work.

3. J.K Rowling

j-k-rowling-image.jpe As an aspiring writer and self-published author, I am dying to meet J.K Rowling in person. I will just tell her that she is my inspiration and I wanted to be just like her. Well, I don’t have Harry Potter idea but I am sure that the best is yet to come!

Locally, I have met with people that I think were so big and inspiring. I believe that meeting them contributes to my simple achievements in this life.

As a Community Development Officer back in 2011, meeting the US Ambassador is a rare opportunity. But I always wanted to meet inspiring and influential people. You know, their positive vibes and energy is something that I cannot explain but it highly inspires me to do my best and excel for something.

I am not really interested to enter politics but I had the opportunity to attend a meeting at the House of Representatives in Quezon City, Philippines in 2012. As a staff of the Regional Development Council at that time, I highly valued this meeting as I learn the charm, the wit, brains and humility of some of the leaders in my country.  Regional Directors of the different local and national offices in the Cordillera Region were present during this time and yeah, I like the energy and positive vibes!

We are all dreamers and we all wanted to achieve something and contribute in this world. I am advocate, a community organizer, a development worker and there are so many things that I wanted to do for the most deprived women, youth and children. I also want to be a full time Climate Change advocate and I will do simple baby steps to raise awareness on this advocacy. The lack of finances and resources is a hindrance for me, but starting today, I will make use of the law of attraction to achieve my dreams.

How to judge a book

Cristian Mihai

book_judgeBy its cover, of course. Well, not quite.

Tonight’s post is more about judging a book after you read it. Strictly speaking, there are no bad books. If just one person genuinely likes your story, just for the story itself, not because that person owes you money, then your book is good. And the difference between books lies in the number of people who like that book. That doesn’t necessarily make bestsellers the best books in the world.

The thing is, there isn’t a best book in the world, there isn’t a greatest writer. No one can give you this title, and no one will ever be unanimously considered to be the best writer ever.

Top 11 Life Lessons From Bruce Lee

I am from the 1980’s generation kid who loves martial art movies back when I was in grade school. I remember we would play games pretending to be a great martial artist  and all those stuff.  My favorites were Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Sylvester Stallone.

For me, Bruce Lee will forever be a legendary man who is an inspiration to people and even for the next generations to come. To date, he is still considered to be the most influential martial artists of all time. In fact, he has 11 life lessons to share which was compiled by SheBudgets.Com and I strongly believe that this is worth sharing. Check it out and get inspired!

Top 11 Life Lessons From Bruce Lee

1. Goal

“A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.”

Goals serve as something to aim for, so don’t get too hung up on reaching them. Focus on enjoying the journey and the process. If you’re hiking on a beautiful trail, your goal is to get to your end destination, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the walk, or even change direction. Be open, be flexible.

2. Flexibility

“Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.”

The happiest people in the world are flexible. They do not have rigid beliefs or try to control and manipulate their surroundings to make them happy. They are okay with how things are. They accept, they live in the now and they breathe. If you want to have a fulfilling and happy life, be flexible and accept things as they are.

3. Time

“If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of.”

There’s no time for procrastinating, making excuses and succumbing to your fears. I know it can be hard, but you will ultimately die, so why not make the best of your life? Don’t waste time, instead start boldly moving towards your dreams. You will fail and make mistakes along the way, so stay humble and stay in the now.

4. Service

“Real living is living for others.”

The most satisfying way to live is to help and enrich the life of others. It wasn’t until I started my blog that I realized how satisfying it is to assist others. If you can find a way to solve other people’s problems while following your passion, you will have found the ideal way to live.

5. Acceptance

“Take no thought of who is right or wrong or who is better than. Be not for or against.”

If we want the earth to become better, we have to let go of judgment, prejudice and rigid beliefs. There is no need to be right or wrong, or say that you are better than someone else. Everything is as it is. If you do not like it, you can do something else, but do not inject negative energy, because it never does any good.

6. Single-Mindedness

“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”

If you want to get results and master something, you have to stop dabbling and jumping around from thing to thing. Commit to something and follow through. Most people quit before any results can appear. They give up too soon. Don’t be one of those people!

7. Creativity

“Using no way as way, using no limitation as limitation.”

You impose your own limitations. Even if a guru tells you that something is impossible doesn’t mean it is. He or she is human just like you. Remember, most great people were told they could never accomplish something, but they went ahead and did it anyway. Listen to yourself and do what excites you.

8. Simplicity

“Simplicity is the key to brilliance.”

Simplify your life and eliminate the unnecessary. We as a society have been taught to consume and amass material possessions. Luckily, we are starting to realize that this doesn’t work. Happiness comes from the inside, not from the outside. Simplicity gives you clarity and peace of mind.

9. Find Your Path

“Absorb what is useful, Discard what is not, Add what is uniquely your own.”

In the beginning, learn from someone you look up to, but as you get better and more successful, take what worksand discard what doesn’t. We are all unique, so we have to find our own groove and start listening to ourselves. Listen to your heart for guidance. Where is it trying to pull you?

10. Take Action

“Knowing is not enough, you must apply; willing is not enough, you must do.”

You can read all the information you want, but if you never take action, nothing will happen. You will almost never have crystal clear clarity, so you will have to work through confusion and uncertainty. I know you want a rock-solid guarantee that will tell you that you will be successful, but in reality, no such thing exists. You have to start moving in order to get to where you want to be.

11. Ego

“The martial arts are ultimately self-knowledge. A punch or a kick is not to knock the hell out of the guy in front, but to knock the hell out of your ego, your fear, or your hang-ups.”

Everything you do involves your ego. It’s the one that is afraid. It wants you to stay where things are comfortable, convenient and safe. If you listen to your heart, you know that this isn’t the path for you. Go after your dreams and do so boldly. Accept the fear inside you and keep moving.

Life is meant to be lived, so start living and following your passion.

Wherever you are, whatever path you are heading too…these 11 lessons are so great that you can use it as a tool to remind you of your dreams and wants. I swear, it can excite you and it will wake up your sleeping energy.

Lately, I am feeling so down and of not knowing what I really wanted to be. I met an old friend from my previous work at the National Economic Development Authority and she still felt sorry that I gave up my work there. Also, my social worker friends and batch mates are all happily working at the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

But ahhhh… I am here…taking and surviving the path that I really wanted.  I wanted to write and to become a self published author. I wanted to make writing as a source of passive income so I can pursue my passion as  a volunteer to various interests I have such as the empowerment of women, youth and sustainable development. I have so many plans and thoughts about Climate Change advocacy these past few days…I still don’t know how to put things into action but I am sure I will be there.

Inspirational Talk To Young Scholars

The Agno River which is Located in the Island of Luzon in the Philippines was adversely affected during the Tailing Spillage of Philex Mines in August 2012. The Agno River originates in the Cordillera Mountains, passes through the low lands in Pangasinan and empties in the South China Sea through the Lingayen Gulf.

During the spillage, one of the affected communities is Pangbesan, Dalupirip, Itogon Benguet. As part of the corporate social responsibility of Philex Mines, they granted scholarship to 81 college students living in Pangbesan.

This is when I was invited to speak about Climate Change Reality in Relation to Education. It was a hard task, for I was asked to encourage the scholars and their parents to be positive in spite of the disaster.

I accepted the invitation in spite of the challenge that I am not that qualified for an inspirational talk but I took the chance to share my passion on Climate Change, also I was once  a working scholar for 4.5 years back in college. Below is the full sharing I had to the scholars and their parents:

Inspirational TalkIn  the Philippines, climate –related disasters have claimed thousands of lives, destroyed billions worth in property. The grassroots communities such as farmers, women and children, indigenous peoples and the poor population suffer disproportionately because of their low capacity to adapt as a result of chronic poverty and lack of access to social services.

In the Cordillera Administrative Region our issues is more complex and with the kind of geography that we have, it makes us more prone to landslides and flash floods. The natural disasters that we all bravely faced in the past has continued to affect and bury many of us into deeper poverty.

But these disasters have also build us to be stronger in facing these realities of life. As a youth and recognized as the hope of the fatherland, your responsibility to take action is greater as you look forward to what you will offer to the next generations behind you.

Education is your arm, your shield and promise towards a better you, towards a better family status, better community and better world.

A scholarship grant  is nothing without you. The opportunity to go to school with the support of your family, the community and your donor, cannot be undervalued

With the kind of educational system in the Philippines, let us say that you are more fortunate compared to others. Across the country, there are schools that lack even the most basic facilities, including running water and electricity.

In southern Philippines, children swim through 2km of swamp to get to class, braving harsh conditions as they strive for a better future. In Beckes, Atok Benguet, little children has to walk an average of four hours a day just to go to school.

Recently, a young college student from the University of the Philippines committed suicide due to lack of enough funds to support her tuition fee. The news had prompted debate, rallies and protest regarding the current educational programs and services of the country.  Kristel Tejada and her family had done their very best to find means to pay her tuition fee. But to no avail, Kristel had to give up her only status and pride-being a student. Yes! She cannot accept that she had to surrender her school ID in the middle of the school year. It is heart breaking that she has to take her life. The Filipino youth has cried  for her wasted life but may she live with the legacy she left that Education and the welfare of youth should be given top priority.

We cannot afford to have another Kristel Tejada just because of poverty; we wanted you to achieve your dreams and may you take the opportunity of a scholarship program to achieve your dreams.

Find a way not to limit yourselves to classroom studies. Strive to give back to your community or the younger ones looking forward to your success. This scholarship opportunity given does not only strive to send you to school but to expose you to what is out there, to see what’s across the ocean and be able to live life to the fullest.  This is also to nurture you to virtues common to humanity: empathy, compassion, responsibility, integrity and service above self.

I was once like you and Ms. Janice Terso who is now a successful professional  and Ms. Nathalie Malabato who is now a registered social worker at the same a registered nurse were my colleagues in our struggle to go to school. We are all library working students in Saint Luis University. YES! We have to work to go to school. We struggled even without pocket money or worst, without money for lunch. You will never meet Ms. Janice without her struggles working at the library. Going to university is our only chance and poverty and giving up is not option. When you desire you achieve!

We cling on you, on your education and leadership for the benefit of the seven generations next to you.

May you take the scholarship granted to you more than an opportunity to go to school but for something that is more than that.

I look forward to seeing you on your graduation four to five years from now.

Thank you very much and Good Morning!

20 Signs That You are a Writer!

Do you feel like a writer and do you aspire as one? I enjoy writing and I am dying hard to perfect my skills in writing. Ten years ago, I have this imaginary titles on my mind about books I published but days are moving fast and still I haven’t started chapter 1 yet.

However, I quit my traditional job, the 8:00-5:00 Monday to Friday job to follow my dream as writer. Oh well, things are going alright as I write everyday of my life. Freelance writing is the source of my living and I can say that I am fairly surviving.

It’s so funny I came across these 20 Signs That You are a Writer thing and the more I felt that this is where I belong.  I hope I can stop procrastinating and just start on writing…oh well, check if you are one of us!

20 Signs That You are a Writer

It’s cute isn’t it? Oh well J.K Rowlings lend me a talent, throw me an inspiration, make me a success like you. I don’t have Harry Potter thing on mind but I know there can be something more! I will look forward to that.

And yes, keep on writing dreamer!

Steve Jobs Talking About Passion

Passion is something that keeps you going no matter how difficult your beginnings are. As for me I wanted to write to live and live to write. But writing is not my gift and I am not skilled to qualify as a writer. But not being smart enough is not a hindrance for me to grow in this career where I want to live my life to the fullest.

I struggled with passion and day by day I develop myself to become a famous writer. When to publish my first book? I don’t know…perhaps the first one is 20 years in the making. Yap, that makes it worth reading.

And who’s not inspired by a man like Steve Jobs? He himself struggled to reach the star he aimed for. Although he is physically gone forever, his legacy will stay forever to inspire people living today and the next generatios to come.

Steve Jobs Shares About Passion

Without passion, we live ordinary lives! Don’t miss the opportunity to live out your dreams. Life is short so make way to live life to the fullest.

Six climate leaders join Global Power Shift conference in Istanbul and lead national climate movement in the Philippines

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – As the Philippines faces the start of the rainy season and once again confronts the effects of climate change and disasters, six young Filipino activists are stepping up to the challenge.  The six climate leaders will be traveling to Istanbul, Turkey from 24 to 30 June 2013 to participate in Global Power Shift, an international youth leaders’ summit to address climate change issues, at Istanbul Technical University.

Global Power Shift (GPS) is an initiative of and organized by 350.org, a youth-led network and movement started by environmental writer Bill McKibben, in order to organize and strategize national-level movements to address climate change in countries across the region and internationally.  The first phase takes place at the summit, where 500 young climate leaders from 133 countries will convene to discuss and learn strategies for strengthening their local movements in the areas of art and creative activism, non-violent direct action, media and communications, digital campaigning, and policy and advocacy.

The Filipino delegates are:

  • Feby Basco-Lunag, representing the Cordillera Youth Network for Global Change
  • Philline Donggay, a Climate Leader with the Climate Reality Project
  • Leon Dulce, campaign coordinator of the Kalikasan People’s Network for the Environment
  • John Lumapay, Artist Teacher
  • Marjorie Pamintuan of the Asia-Pacific Research Network
  • Erin Sinogba, representing Redraw The Line, a climate change campaign led by the Asia-Pacific Media Alliance for Social Awareness

The six delegates form the core leadership of Power Shift Pilipinas, the national-level movement aiming to carry out the second phase of GPS in the Philippines. The delegates represent diverse national environmental organizations and movements, and their combined efforts and networks aim to build massive support towards the common goal of mitigating the effects of climate change in the country.  Together, the team have begun a series of consultations with stakeholders and partners throughout the country to build a strategy for confronting the climate crisis in the Philippines, particularly by targeting the fossil fuel industry.

“Challenges on climate change, energy policy, and resource scarcity, among others, should be tackled today,” said Ms. Basco-Lunag. “Creating sustainable solutions is a topmost priority that should be undertaken, and mining and coal power plants are definitely not the answers towards a better tomorrow.  Global Power Shift is a venue for a global collaboration to work out a common dream for a more promising future, where the voice of the youth, being the innovators and visionaries of the future, can be heard by our leaders.”

“Climate change is coming at us from all directions, but the good news is, we have the solutions and there is still a chance to turn things around if we act now!” said Ms. Donggay. “That is the essence of the Global Power Shift: the transition from dirty fossil fuel energy into renewable energy (RE) in order to prevent the runaway warming of our precious planet. In the Philippines, we will confront the coal industry and present solutions to all Filipinos that a complete shift to renewables is possible, easy, and even affordable.”

“The Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) of 2001 allowed a virtual monopoly of private foreign and local interests in the industry,” said Mr. Dulce. “All 25 existing and approved coal energy projects, owned by foreign and local multinational firms,  prioritize cheap but dirty coal energy for profit. We have been fighting for a clean, indigenous and nationalized energy industry for the Filipino people, and we’re bringing in the entire world into this fight through the GPS.”

“Power source is one of the major aspects of human development put in question, since the current ways still cannot augment its massive effect on the earth’s natural processes,” said Ms. Lumapay. “GPS can provide us a space that will arm advocates with strategies for relevant action. In this manner, we hope the community will be empowered both with the knowledge and the capacity to respond accordingly, developing awareness from the grassroots level to the global context and creating a substantial impact in our environment.”

“Grassroots communities bear the brunt of the impacts of climate change but are least heard where carbon-intensive energy and ecologically destructive development policies, such as mining and deforestation, are made,” said Ms. Pamintuan. “Along with poverty and lack of access to services, education and information about climate change, these policies worsen the vulnerability of grassroots communities to climate change. At GPS, we aim to shift the power to these communities and their movements to raise their voices against these policies and projects, and advocate for socially-just adaptation and mitigation solutions to climate change.”

“The Philippines is among the most vulnerable countries to the effects of climate change,” said Ms. Sinogba.  “We need innovative and inclusive processes to ensure that everyone can participate in protecting our environment and that those in power listen to those voices.  Through the Power Shift movement, we hope that our collective actions can make a difference in how our leaders treat our environment and how our fellow community members can participate in disrupting the status quo.”

Global Power Shift is being organised by the international climate campaign 350.org, with support from partner organisations Avaaz, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, the Global Campaign to Demand Climate Justice, and others. 350.org is named after 350 parts per million, what many scientists consider is the safe upper limit of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Anyone new to online marketing needs to learn about traffic. The more traffic you have the more chance your blog site will get noticed.

As a newbie, the best thing that you can do is to learn from the experts.  One of my favorite bloggers is Will Edwards  of monify.me. He generously gives  away insights, e-books and everything that we needed to learn about blogging.

Today, let’s take a look at his blog about traffic building.

Traffic Building: What You Need to Learn!

So, I thought that it would be a good idea to reflect on the various techniques I have been using and report to you on what is working for me right now. As you can see from the graphic below, my blog traffic continues to rise fairly steadily.

You can see that, on 15th Feb, I had a little spike; 351 unique visitors and they generated 1684 page views. However, at present, I am getting around 200 unique visitors per day on average and that results in about 800 page views per day.

Here are the tactics/services I have been testing:

– Forum Marketing
– Bulk Ping
– Zemanta
– Blog Traffic Exchange
– Just Retweet
– Shareaholic Social Plugin
– Bloggers.com

Without going into too much detail, I have dumped Bulk Ping, Zemanta and Blog Traffic Exchange. Perhaps they work well for other people, but for me, I did not consider them to be very effective. That’s not to say that they don’t work. I am certainly not knocking those services. For other people, they may be very useful. For my purposes, on my way to my $1 Million goal, they simply do not deliver enough wallop.

Of the tactics listed above, the two that have been very effective and that I am continuing to use are Forum Marketing (the Warrior Forumcontinues to be a major source of traffic for me here) and Just Retweet. I love the Just Retweet service and I am really glad I found it. It has changed the way I promote my blog posts. It gets me tweets, likes and Google +1s and in addition, I get to connect with other bloggers. I highly recommend it.

In addition, I also love my social buttons plugin Shareaholic. In my opinion, it is the best social buttons plugin around. I tested about 6 of them before finally settling on Shareaholic. I think the buttons are beautiful, they have a great animation effect and they display stats too; everything I wanted.
